Daikon radishes are a fast-growing option for home sprouting and indoor gardening, delivering a crisp texture and mild radish tang in just a few days. These spicy, nutrient-dense sprouts bring a refreshing bite to salads, wraps, sandwiches, and grain bowls while supporting healthy eating habits year-round. Whether grown as sprouts or microgreens, daikon radish offers vibrant flavor and reliable performance for small-space and soil-free gardening.
To sprout, soak 1–2 tablespoons of seeds for 4 to 6 hours, then rinse and drain twice daily. Sprouts are typically ready to harvest in 4 to 5 days, while microgreens can be harvested in 10 to 12 days. Each tablespoon of seed produces approximately 3 to 4 cups of fresh sprouts. For best storage, keep sprouts fairly dry and refrigerate in a sealed container. Unused seeds should be stored in a cool, dry place, with refrigeration or freezing recommended to extend shelf life.
Note: Daikon radish sprouts naturally develop fuzzy white root hairs, which are often mistaken for mold. These root hairs are completely normal and help with water absorption during growth.
