Facts of note: Dessert pear, excellent with chocolate. This pear is basically D'Anjou with attractive red skin. The variety is a naturally occurring bud sport from D'Anjou pears. This same mutation occurred not once, but twice: first in the 1950's in Medford, Oregon and again in the 1970's in Parkfield, Oregon.
