The Satsuma plum tree is a beloved Japanese variety developed by Luther Burbank, known for its deep red, juicy flesh and smooth, mottled maroon skin. This semi dwarf plum tree, grafted onto Citation rootstock, stays compact while producing abundant small to medium fruit with a sweet, mild flavor.

Often called a blood plum, the Satsuma plum is perfect for eating fresh, preserving, or using in baked desserts. The tree produces showy white blooms in early spring—adding beauty and attracting pollinators.

Satsuma Plum Pollination: Requires cross-pollination with another Japanese plum such as Santa Rosa or Beauty Plum to set fruit and reliably produce fruit.
